Question while waiting for HVX Book

I can not find anything that tells me if I can record DVC Pro 720p/24p. If I change my setting to 720p/24p the camera automatically switches to DVC Pro HD record mode. What am I doing wrong?

I'm sure this is all explained in Barry's book but I am still waiting for it to come in the mail.

You're doing nothing wrong. High def is recorded in DVCPRO-HD, and only in DVCPRO-HD.

DVCPRO and DVCPRO50 (and DV) can only record standard-def. They are standard-def-only codecs.
