I am going to buy the hvx 200 p2 cam. I have always used Edius and am very happy with it.
Do i need the HD pack just to import hd clips into edius. If so is there any way around this.
If i use P2 to record to DV or dvcpro do i need the hd pack for this.
Or is the HD pack only for exporting.
I am using Edius 3.61

Broadcast is the only one with p2 support. Edius Pro does not have p2 support. Since you are using 3.61, you may be able to upgrade to broadcast 4 for less money, but I am not positive. The only case you won't need broadcast is when recording to mini dv tape.

If I won't be doing HD for awhile, can I just buy Pro and have everything I need? Can I also upgrade from Pro to Broadcast later when/if I decide to start working with HD?
Thanks,
Larry

If you need... DVCPRO HD/DVCPRO100, P2, VariCam or XDCAM support, then you need EDIUS Broadcast.
Otherwise you can go with EDIUS Pro.
Starting with version 4, those are the only differences between the two as Speed Encoder for HDV and Windows Media import functionality are now standard parts of EDIUS Pro.
You can upgrade from EDIUS Pro to EDIUS Broadcast in the future, but it's cheaper just to start with Broadcast.
