I am curious, like some of you I still know a lot of people who refer to our camera as "that Red thing".
They really just don' t get it. I know one guy that does a LOT of feature films, and he's about to buy a VARICAM for shooting movies... Ouch big time.
One sceptical DP I know said he doesn't believe in RED's ability to accept different lens mounts.. Something about resolving the image on the chip. Now I am not tech savy enough to understand all the details, but I am curious if the RED team has gotten far enough along in the process to confirm they can indeed get all these mounts to work like they should with all these lenses.
I do believe the distance from the lens to the plane of the chip must be exact, or is that varying distance what the back focus is for? If this is the case, then I guess it would not have to be dead on exact.. Whatever, have they made this work yet?
Another question: I doubt I will get an answer here, but, aside from the chip, what has been the trickiest part of Red's development so far?
