View Full Version : Strange job offer I had today...

So, I was walking my dog today and I got a call offering me some video work later in the afternoon. The job was to go to the airport and videotape the Governor's press conference. Nothing strange about that, right?

Well, then I found out that the person behind the person hiring me is non-other than the candidate running against the Gov. They want the footage to use in negative-attack ads. I like our Governor and I don't trust the other candidate any further than I could throw her, but money's money, right?

So, I went home to gather my equipment and as I'm getting ready to leave, I get a call cancelling the whole thing. I've never done a press conference before (I was kinda stoked about getting a press-kit), and I tossed around the idea of just going out there for the hell of it. I thought that it could at least give me something to add to my reel, but here I am. I think I'll just do laundry instead.

Thanks for reading,
Chris

I would have done it, got the press kit, and of course i mean in your specific situation, i would have shot it and given it to them without any audio, and just give them their money back. No slander against your govnah' and you got to have the fun of doing it! Unless of course it was in the 1000$ and up range, then they can have the audio.

Ha! Yeah, I should do that. The funniest part of the whole thing is that the guy who called me has done work for both candidates. He needed me there today because he couldn't do it himself without exposing his alliance with the other.

I didn't recieve any money up front, so I don't feel very inclined to do the shoot.

I think I'll just go find some more caterpillars to videotape instead.
