i was hired through school to do a promotional video for a food bank that services northern ohio. basically the food bank gets its food through either the federal, state, or local gov't, farmers, or other suppliers like Giant Eagle. they keep it in their own warehouse, then ship it to Salvation Army, or one of the community hunger groups. they hired me and one other guy to do the promotional video that will be shown to people on the national level of their organization, and may even have us edit it down from the 6-8 min time, to be able to do a commercial as well. also we're doing a video that shows what the volunteers do, why they do it, and filming the guy who trains the volunteers giving his training speech, then putting it on dvd so all he has to do it pop in the dvd and not do the speech over and over again. i'm really looking forward to it, and the people said they'd like to work with us, and even collaborate on future projects.

we went to the warehouse today, and got a lot of great shots. i was put on a cage that was hooked to a forklift and shot as if i were a pallet being put on the shelf, showed the Salvation Army putting boxes into their vehicle, and had them pick the camera up like it were the box, then when it was in the van, close the door, then showed the van drive off. i have a lot of great ideas that i'm putting into the video, and i'm really excited to be doing it.

Fun! I have done that a bit - except I wasn't shooting video, I was stringing CAT5 cable. You learn to be really nice to your forklift driver.

If doing a shoot in a warehouse or factory environment, never under estimate the usefulness of a forklift or scissors lift.

went out and shot some more stuff for my project. got some great shots of the volunteers doing what they have to do, and i'm going out monday to shoot a guy who gives speeches to the volunteers everytime they come in there, so that he can stop giving the speech all the time and he can just pop a dvd in and show the speech, the volunteers, etc. then our food bank video will be shown to the national owners of the company... and we're working on a promotional video for our school's library as well.

I know it probably isn't the most exciting thing in the world, but I would love to see some footage.
