do apple monitors suck or are they worth the money?
i need some guidance. i am desperate for monitors and i dont know what to buy. i've always had a pc laptop but just bought my first apple - G5 - and need monitors. i've never bought a monitor in my life. ive saved cash and have from $1000 to $1200 to use.
then today i find a 2 month old 30" apple cinema display with applecare for $1600 and want it. looks great/designed great/alot of money though (i could scrounge it up if need be).
question is - my main need is for Final Cut first and formost. is the DV image quality on apple monitors any good? are there any problems with apple monitors? what do most of you have? what should i get?
any opinion would be valued.
thanks

They are good, I think Apple monitors use parts from LG. But you can look other brands at this huge price range. 30'' might be too much.
If I had the money I would buy a 21"-24" OR two 19" around 500 and invest on a good 10" OR 14" broadcast monitor.

the 30" is huge if you haven't seen it. Nothing is TOO big, but you don't NEED it if its too expensive. The apple monitors are top notch hardware, but dells are almost as good and usually quite a bit cheaper. I, too, would rather have two 21" monitors than one friggin huge 30"
Is this on ebay or where did you find a "used" monitor?

guy down the street from me. it just so happens he finished a quick project and doesnt need it anymore. just trying to get some $ back for it.
I say take it man.. that is an awesome price for one killer monitor...
The screen space is absolutely amazing... watching HD films on it is sick... of course I don't have one.. but I hog when I am at the apple store

yeah, take another look at it, if your happy with the condition and if apple care is transferable, I'd buy it.

For work or editing I prefer to have two 21" too. Two 30" would be sick but damn sweet. IMHO, unless you have the cash, buying something you don't need because it is a great deal will lead you very quickly to an empty wallet when you get to something you do need.
I would prefer to find a great deal on a Herman Miller chair. Better to keep my back and butt in comfort then my eyes in awe. :)
