Is there Auto Focus features?

What are you referring to by "M2"? Sorry, I must be missing something.
No to Auto-focus.
Best glass, not saying where glass comes from. No excuse quality, though.

With the RED you will not need a mini35 like the M2 adapter, the sensor is BIG enough to get a nice DoF I suppose...
BTW, Jim doesn´t seem to be interested in "mini" ;o)

Absolutely NO M2 required! The size of the sensor means built in 35mm DOF. All manual focus (YAY), but I believe there will be a device for helping to measure range and aid critical focus. You'll need to attach a follow focus unit.

The "M2" he is referring to a popular depth of field adapter that gives prosumer comcorders shallow depth of field. However, there are compromises. For example, most dop adapters compromise light loss to deliver said depth of field. Also, resolution is compromised in order to acheive it. In all, I imagine the red camera system will give you all the shallow depth of field you''ll ever need... without an adapter.

Take a look at the red lenses thread. You will learn a lot from all of the pages. I think we all know what the m2 does. The problem you might experience with a small 1/3rd sensor and appropriate lenses such as the difficulty in getting a shallow DOF disappears with a huge s35mm sensor and appropriate lenses. From what i have read you will not get any of the problems associated with using an m2 either. Read up on red spend some time it will be worth it in the end:thumbsup:

Ohhhhh... you mean like a P&S Technik! No, we don't need one of those.

Right, RED delivers the same DOF that you'd get with one of those lens adapters, but without all the nonsense -- no spinning ground glass, no diffused footage, no upside-down footage, no magnet-on-the-LCD, no mounting-the-camera-upside-down-so-what-you-film-is-right-side-up...
RED's sensor is as large as a Super35 frame of film, so with an appropriate lens it will inherently deliver the same depth of field and field of view of a Super35 film camera.

Thank You Everyone, I can't wait. I guess I need to order the lenses too.

No excuse? So armed with a Red lens I won't feel the need to rent a Cooke or Zeiss for a project?
This is important to know, especially with reservations closing.
Thanks
