This is a picture my Father took when he was in Vietnam during his 2nd tour in 1971. He is on the left. The picture on the right was their (my parents) engagement picture. They were engaged just before he went to Vietnam. Married during his tour. They have quite an amazing story revolving around that time. It doesn't even have to be "hollywooded" up. It truly is amazing what they went through in that year. But I won't go into that here. You can watch the film someday :)

also my avatar, as you can see. Thought you might like to see it blown up. He took some good pictures while he was there. The few he did take. :)

Wow

I'd truly love to hear the story. If you have time (anbd want to of course) . That's a fascinating era; we lost our innocence for real during this period (65 to 75)

Again, I am all ears (PM is fine!)

The picture is wonderful!

Great post!

I love the picture and it tells an amazing story on it's own. What a great image that really just allows the immagination to run on it's own fuels and come up with all sorts of stories... I love it.

Yeah. I don't mind sharing some details. But pm probably. I am planning on reshooting a doc WHEN I am able to get my hvx's and all, and have plans to do a feature someday way down the road, so I don't exactly want to put up to many details for all of google to see until I have the doc in production :)

It's amazing though.... I started to type, but I knew it would turn into an 8 page post, heh.

He took a lot of pictures during his first tour. Not so many during his second. It was different for him. I won't go into all of that right now though.

I never took him for the artistic type growing up, but he has a good eye, and apparently (so I am told is a great drawer too). I guess that's where I got my artsy fartsy ways from, heh.

Thanks. I think my favorite part of it though, is that you only see his face in the picture not in the "here and now" so to speak.

One more, then I'll stop. He didn't take this pic, but it clues you in a little to the story.....

I assume the graphic one is the one of the shirtless fat guy?

Heh, great pics though, looks really fascinating - I especially LOVe the second and third ones. Too bad about the war though...

Oh and i'll never look at your avatar in the same way again. I used to think it was some techie CGI stuff because it was so small. Now that i've seen it all blown up and taken a closer look...wow. It is a really powerful picture

Thanks for the comments Malcom.

Lol, about the shirtless fat guy. His name was Cpt. Bear. I can't remember if he was killed in country or if it was on the way out of country. Anyways, he had a four year old daughter who died in an accident like a week after he did. So his parents lost their son and their son's daughter within a week of each other. I met his parents a few years ago. His Father was an old WWII vet. Still sharp as a tack and a real cool customer.
Thanks
Jason
