Say it aint so! One of the best things about Vegas was it's upper-timeline layout.

If it's like Vegas 5 and 6, you'll be able to have the timeline on the top or bottom. A lot of people prefer the timeline on the bottom (myself included).

its a cool little tweak, I wish you could do it in Acid Pro to :(
Maybe sony figured its UI wouldnt stand out as weird if they put the timeline on the bottom in that grab, since most other NLE use bottom timelines and top previews. Remember, they are trying to compete with FCP, Premiere, and Avid... (no real comparison though :)

The only way I could do it easy, was to put the tear off windows above a "sort of" minimized time line.
There is probably a simple way.

No, just do it the way it's done in the Sundance Media (VASST) link above.
Can't be done in Vegas 4, though.

How is this done in Vegas 8? I want my timeline on top, but can't, for the life of me, see where to do it.
Thanks.

Go to your tool bar and select > Options >> Preferences >> and then the Display tab. Uncheck the box labeled "Display timeline at bottom of the main window."

Options - Preferences - Display tab - Uncheck "Display timeline at bottom of main window" and it will move to the top.
