So I went to Israel for my sisters wedding with my girlfriend and came back from vacation with my fiancee. It was a really incredible time over there (couldn't even tell there was a war going on) Below are pictures that both me and my fiancee took.

XT Review:
This was my first time really using the camera and it is my first digital SLR (My previous camera was a ricoh 35mm SLR which I still love) The camera is very easy to use and has tons of features whihc are easy to access when you read through the manual once. The lens I used is the noraml 18-55mm (27-83mm 35 equive) that comes with the camera.
Pros:
The lens is decently wide
easy to use even with one hand
bulb shutter setting with counter up to 1000 seconds
nice size sensor
built in flash works nicely (if you like that sorta thing)
cons:
lens feels cheap (the focus ring)
lens needs more length on the tele side
lens is slow (3.5)
I wish that the shutter speed setting would go beyond 30 seconds before it goes to bulb but that becasue i like long exposure photography
the lowest ISO speed is 100 however if you think of the camera as a 6 mega pixel camera instead of 8 than you can resize your photos later and make the grain smaller as well to be more like ISO 50
My specific camera is having toruble shooting RAW + JPEG and just writes two JPEGs instead.

All the pictures below were shot RAW an then converted to JPEG without any color adjustments.

I've been to Israel a couple of times and these pictures really capture the aspect of it... Ijust wish you would resize because even with high speed it took 4 minutes to load.

Great location shots. I picked out Masada & Jerusalem... where else did you go?

Congrats on the engagement

A better lens would really be worth the investment.
Really nice shots all around.

Those are awesome, looks like a very cool trip.
Now you have to show us the footage from your XL2...

of course you are correct about Massada and Jerusalem THese pictures also show scnes from Eilat (7, 16, 17), the Negev (15, 19), Tel Aviv (23) and Casarea (12-14) I didn't make it to the north because of the war but I also went to the dead sea.

I can't resize the pics at this point, too much trouble sorry.

your right I could use a faster lens with better focus ring but they are too expensive for this mount and I feel bad spending a lot for a lens that is made for this sensor size (rather get 35mm lenses that will hopefully stick around for longer)

Honestly I didn't take all that much XL2 footage maybe an hour and a half worth because it was too difficult to bring it most places. I brought it to Casarea and the dead sea. I also did bring it up massada to videotape my engagement but thats 2 personal :) sorry

Thanks for the all the positive responses
