I've decided to post some full size frame grabs from my Canon GL2 (I've had a couple of requests during the last couple of weeks) These are grabs that have been colour corrected using levels and contrast out of Premiere Pro and have been saved to jpeg through photoshop. There are no other alterations to these grabs. I decided to post a variety of grabs in different lighting conditions so you can get the just, of what this camera can do. Previous Grabs from my last post: http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?t=56208

New grabs below: (You can tell right away that this camera performs when there is a lot of light) The first 5 grabs were taken in 16:9 mode the last 2 are fullscreen.

These were taken in the worst lighting conditions possible (This is as bad as it gets, a concert at the Hardrock cafe, and a bar):

mastertee31 - it all looks very good.

We have been using a GL2 in 16:9, frame mode and we have been getting horrible jagged diagonal lines... especially in high contrast situations.

have you run across this? what are we doing wrong?

Tony

here is a grab, if it helps to describe the issue.

thats because it is an electric squezze not true 16:9 ccds. Better idea is to tape off a 16:9 area on your lcd, record in 4:3 and crop in post you will get mor resolution out of it.

That's exactly why. Also, frame mode is garbage (I've done tests to check this). There is no substitute for a true progressive chip.

interesting.... can you post screen grabs to show what you mean? do you mean GL2-frame vs GL2-interlaced or GL2-frame vs progressive on another camera?

i have shot in regular 4:3 with the intention of cropping later but still was plagued by jaggies. this was in frame mode.

thanks,
