Hi...What is uprezing...and how does one do it within vegas ? And why is uprezing done ?
Can someone explain it....I do understand that it means raising the resolution to a higher number of pixels. If im right why is this done ? and how does it help in real world situations ?
Thanks

Uprezzing is raising resolution/pixels, yes.
You'll only need it, if you are outputting to a format that is larger than your raw footage.

What NLE are you using?
If you remaining in SD (standard definition) and are simply wanting to "convert" to 16:9 widescreen footage to NTSC you should be able to do that within your NLE. Alternatively there's programs such as DVfilm's ATLANTIS that can do it too.
The term "uprezzing" is really mostly used to refer to changing from SD to HD, or 720p to 1080i (or whatever). That doesn't seem like what you are doing at all.
If you shot widescreen footage with a DVX and want to output to DVD, you will find that most current NLEs can do this....piece of cake!

Im wanting to know if it can be done in vegas. UPrezzing.
You last line says most NLEs can do this. Most NLE's can do what ?
Can you please tell me if you wanted to make a high quality dvd in widescreen (1 hr duration) within Vegas. What mode would you shoot in the dvx ? What format would you capture in and at what res ? What would your project settings be ? And how would you render out to DVD Arch ? You can answer in short points , cause im sorry to trouble you with so many questions !

Uprezzing to go to DVD isn't necessary, because DV and DVD are the same resolution (720x480, or in PAL, 720x576). That is SD resolution.
Uprezzing in Vegas is no problem; all you have to do is select your output size (720x480, 1280x720, 1920x1080, or really any combination you can think of). Vegas will uprez your footage as necessary as it renders. Seriously. That's all you have to do.
Now, like I said, DV and DVD are the same resolution -- SD -- so you don't have to uprez. But if you shoot full frame and crop to widescreen, intending to make a widescreen DVD, you're cropping your image down from DV resolution to something smaller depending on how much you crop. If you want to go to widescreen DVD, you'll have to uprez that image to full SD from the smaller resolution to which you cropped. But all you have to do is render out using the DVD Architect Widescreen templates (assuming you're using DVD Architect; otherwise, use the Widescreen DVD templates) under MPEG-2. Vegas will handle all the uprezzing needing to be done.

If im understanding right ? i import my footage onto a 24p widescreen timeline. Then crop my footage. so that it fills the entire widecreen preview window. And thats it. Your saying Vegas will automatically uprez to the widescreen resolution. Also i saw smithys link. Pinelakefilms.com and the 2 sample images shown there. The footage on the uprezzed version looks sharper ? How is that possible. Especially since they ae both displayed in same size. The bottom pic only has cropping added. But the picture seems to have improved ! How ?

Yes, it will automatically uprez, if you render as widescreen.
The example looks better because Photozoom Pro is (expensive) software dedicated to uprezzing.

The cost versus quality factor...Yes. Reality rears its ugly head again. LOL. Ok i have some water next to me so hit me...how EXPENSIVE is that ?
