While on a small vacation, I decided to try shooting all RAWS with my Canon 30D.

In the 30D camera resolution menu I chose RAW+JPEG. A nice option, because I've been able to look at all this stuff as JPEGs.

The camera tags the RAW files with a suffix of '.CR2'

I'm using a Mac G5... Tried Graphic converter and Photoshop but still can't figure out how to open these files.

Do I have to use the Canon software included with the camera?

I'm planning on buying Apple's Aperture. But any tips in the meantime?

Which versio of photoshop are you using? For the 30D you will need to be using CSII and update to the latest RAW conversion on the Adobe website.

The best program is RawShooter Essentials, it's free too! Look it up, that's what I use.
