Hi i am looking into use Protools LE Mbox 2 for making soundtracks for my video projects. Especially because for a short period of time there is a discount for SAE Students, who can get it for approximately 300 Dollars. I Have a few questions though:

1. Can you import Video into Protools LE. So you can see it while you are mixing, adding soundeffekts, etc... ?

2. Can Avid Xpress Pro and Protools LE Mbox2 be installed on the same system. Read somewhere that its not possible, but iam not too sure about this?

3. I guess you need Digitransaltor to open Avid Projects in Protools? Right or Wrong?

3. without Digitransltor all i can do is export my Avid tracks one a time (AIFF Format for example) and then import into Protools?

4.Are there any Student Versions for DigiTranslator, or DV Toolkit?

5. Can i later buy additional Hardware such as a Mixing Pult to use with protools?

thx in advance,
Marcus Rieger

Hi

I hope it's not too late to reply. Unfortunately I cant answer every question though. Good Luck!

1. Can you import Video into Protools LE. So you can see it while you are mixing, adding soundeffekts, etc... ?

Yes you can. There is an Import Movie function.

3. I guess you need Digitransaltor to open Avid Projects in Protools? Right or Wrong?

You'll need DigiTranslator to import OMF files (audio only). The movie file however, you have to import it separately.

3. without Digitransltor all i can do is export my Avid tracks one a time (AIFF Format for example) and then import into Protools?

Yep, but that wouldn't be very helpful at all.

4.Are there any Student Versions for DigiTranslator, or DV Toolkit?

I don't think so. Why don't you try getting the M-Powered ProTools by M-Audio instead? The student version of it comes with Digitranslator for free.
