I just thought I would start a list of companies I've dealt with in buying or getting props made. I'm not so interested in a Google search of prop companies, but with companies that board members have actually purchased from and have dealt with. Both good and bad experiences.
1. Airsoft Guns
Jungle Toy
http://www.jungletoy.com
Good prices, good assortment. There are higher quality guns out there, but JungleToy has great prices and some great package deals. Two nice, electric full auto MP5s for $39. Not bad.
2. Dust Balls, Spark Balls, Machine work
Creative Effects Inc.
http://www.creative-effects.com
Great guys, a big help, and if they cant make it or are too busy, they aren't shy about giving you other phone numbers/options to get it done.
3. Rentable props - ANYTHING you may want, Custome props, machine work, generic "silent" food packing, custom package printing (Quentin's Red Apple Cigarettes), and anything you can think of.
ISS
http://issprops.com/
Amazing company and great people. They do the biggest shows in the world. I have a few props I've picked up already and a few still being made. I'll post some pics when I get them. If it's good enough for Michael Bay, Jerry Bruckheimer, Steven Spielberg, and everyone else, it's good enough for my cr@p.
That's all I can think of now. I'm sure I have more. What have you guys purchased/have made and from where? Who did a great job? Who sucks that we should stay away from.
Thanks,
GageFX

I'll add to the list:
1. Breakaway Glass
Alfonso's Breakaway Glass
http://www.alfonsosbreakawayglass.com/index.php
Professional breakway glass at a reasonable price. They'll custom make any object and have it ready soon.
2. Green Screens
EEFX Green Screens
www.eefx.com
Professionals at green screen. Also sell professional grade chromakey paint.
3. Prop Guns
FLI Firstline Industries
http://www.firstlineindustries.com/index.html
8mm, 9mm, Western, and Police style blank firing guns. Prop swords and non-firing guns as well.
Model Guns
http://www.modelguns.co.uk/
These are real weapons that function as blank firing guns. ModelGuns.Co.Uk is good for specialty guns or rare guns.
Shorty USA Airsoft
http://www.shortyusa.com/
Cheap airsoft guns that work for the lowest budget. Touchups to the orange tips might be needed.
Someone should make this a sticky. If people contribute, this could become really useful.

If a Mod happens across this thread, it would be great to give it sticky status
EDIT: Great list, guys. Thanks.

I've been talking to these guys and I'm pretty sure I'll be acquiring my AirSofts through them. Great selection and prices.

aurorahistoryboutique.com (http://www.aurorahistoryboutique.com/) just ran accross this today. They have some kool guns and stuff, but they have other items that would be great in period productions. Some of it is a little pricey but what I have browsed so far looks very nice.

If you want airsoft and tactical gear, the best guys in the industry are:
http://www.redwolfairsoft.com
http://www.steelhawkairsoft.com
http://www.airsoftgi.com
These guys know the market and they have the high-quality stuff. A lot of these plastic airsofts are fine, unless you need to get within 10 feet of the gun. It's nice to have at least one hero prop.
ISS obviously gets a nod. Their rubber, no-moving-parts replicas are more convincing than half of the $20 airsofts I've seen, and far easier and safer to haul around. But every department there is great, as well.
For period films, I'd mention http://www.historyforhire.com.

The BEST place to get airsoft guns and tactical equipment for cheep is eBay. 5 - 15 bucks for a fullsized spring opperated (doesnt matter since its just a prop) M16.
Here is a link. (http://sporting-goods.listings.ebay.com/Spring_Rifle_W0QQfromZR4QQfsooZ1QQfsopZ3QQsacatZ62 122QQsbrsrtZlQQsocmdZListingItemList)

What about non Chinese prop guns?

They cost more. Airsoft guns dont cost alot and they look real (once the orange tip is dealt with, and you can just spray paint it).

Yeah, but with the way China is trying to poison the world, I'll be happier to spend a few extra dollars and not give them anymore money than I absolutely have to.

What ever spins yyour wheels. If you can afford it, I agree with you. But if your on a super tight budget, cant beat airsoft guns.

I feel I should add this company to the list - they're based out of LA.
There's quite an assortment of North American and European designs to pistols, rifles, and the like.

ModelGuns.co.uk would be a great place, but the shells eject sparks from the chamber, which isn't realistic. :-(

Also, as far as blank firing pistols, the www.stage-props-blank-guns.com site seem to have better prices than ModelGuns.Co.Uk.

Any idea where to get those cheap plastic fake computers you see adorning desks at Ikea? You know, they look real until about 5 feet away but they're cheap hollow plastic? Would prefer laptop versions.
