I went to see this last Friday with a few buddies and a 30 rack of silver bullets concealed in bookbags.

We weren't the only geniuses to succeed in sneaking this much alcohol into the theater. Every 15 minutes throughout the film somewhere in the audience you could hear the crack and hiss of a carbonated beverage being opened.

Without a doubt this is the funniest and best time I have had watching a comedy in a theater.

I'm not a huge broken lizard fan. I thought super troopers was ok. and didn't see the second horror/comedy flick they put out.

But Beerfest is a comedy that i would rank on par with classics like Animal House or Vacation. And yes i understand the brevity of that statement and how it may resonate with certain DVXUsers.

But this flick has non stop laughs and just alot more heart than comedies from the whole Vaughn-Stiller-Wilson-Farrell-Sandler crowd.

Go see Beerfest if you're looking for a laugh this weekend. It's well worth it.

I'm even pondering another go with a 30 of PBRs this time.

The trailers have been all over ESPN and I thought it looked pretty funny.

I'll probalby check it out as there hasn't been much out that I want to see in the theaters these days. But its funny you mention the above quote.

Yesterday I finallly watched Wedding Crashers and have to say that it was a mediocre comedy at best. I think that most of the named actors can be very funny but this whole slew of comedies that they have done recently leaves me wanting. "WC" was basically "Opportunity Knocks" with Dana Carvey (remember that one?) but with new popular actors. So basically it seems like no plot necessary, just put a few of these guys on screen and watch the dollars pour in.

anyone agree or am I just missing the boat?

Yea i would definately agree with you on that point.

Which is one of the reasons i liked beerfest so much. Each of these guys had something to bring to the table. And the film works from beginning to end.

Here is a little article about their financing troubles. (http://filmforce.ign.com/articles/729/729485p1.html)

I'm really rooting for these guys because i think they have alot of comedic talent and I'd very much like to see what they do next.

Yeah,

I've liked their movies enough, but mostly I like how they get it done and they do the group mentality. I was in a sketch comedy group and we managed to put together two shows (really 1 and a half to be fair) before we couldn't take it, so putting talent aside, these guys are impressive for their ability to keep the group dynamic and continue to grow with each other artistically.

bigteeth, i think every chicagoan has been in at least one sketch comedy group. it comes right after going to billy goat's and eating a deep dish pie.

and yea, beerfest is pretty good. i still hold super troopers up as a major part of my late teenage years, and it's nice to see the boys bounce back from club dread.

in my opinion club dread was screwed from the beginning, because the funny scary movie spoof had already been donw 38,000 times (37,998 of which by the Wayans).

Greek Road sounds really funny, i hope they make it.

I gotta say, here in NY we've been seeing trailers and it looks funny but with trepidation do I try to get my GF to go. She would NEVER understand the need to smuggle in a 30 pack of PBR. So, if I get any upstate NewYork takers, we'll have a freakin' party....!!!
