Does anyone know how to convert 23.976 with pulldown flags to 29.97 footage? I want to encode a video in Cinemacraft and then bring it into Encore but the problem is that Encore wants to re-encode the footage even though it is already DVD compliant because it still sees it as 23.976 footage (stupid!). So I need a way to convert the 23.976 MPEG2 with flags to a 29.97 MPEG2 without flags. Is there a program that will do this?
Thanks

Unless you specifically want your DVD to have 29.97 footage, Encore should accept properly flagged 23.976 mpeg assets without re-encoding. I've done it. It works (from 24pa footage using Adobe Media Encoder).
Though I'm not familiar with Cinemacraft or know your reasons for wanting to encode with that program, I would guess that there is something about the mpeg output (even though it's DVD compliant) that Encore senses requires transcoding. Probably flagging related.
Other than that, you could use After Effects, for example, to convert your 24pa video to 29.97 by adding a standard 3:2 pulldown. I'm sure you already know that if you shot and edited in 24p (not 24pa) then it's already 29.97 and Encore should handle your Mpeg assets without transcoding unless again the Mpegs are wrong.

Maybe it works because it is an Adobe to Adobe transfer? Maybe there is some way I can set the flags in CCE so that Encore recognizes it?

Cinemacraft is a really good encoder. Also, I'm outputting my project out of AVID so I have to output using a QT reference which CCE can handle and Adobe Encore 1.5 can't. I have to use a QT ref because this is a 1hr show and so to export it has other issues (ie disk space + AVID has a 2GB export file size limit).

Are you talking pre or post MPEG encoding?

We shot in 24pa and I edited in AVID in a 23.976 timeline which gets rid of the DV pulldown. So my edited project is progressive. I need to find a way to:
A) Get my 23.976 MPEG2 with flags into Encore as is
B) Convert my 23.976 MPEG2 with flags to a 29.97 MPEG2 without flags and then bring it in Encore.
If there are other options I'm not sure what they are other than to just not use encore at all and burn a DVD without Menus, etc.

I downloaded the user manual on Cinemacraft, maybe there is something I missed. Will update.

FYI there is a program called pulldown.exe that will add flags. Apparently my version of CCE was not doing it correctly or in a way that Adobe didn't like it.
