I worked for Universal Studios. I went to work there not long after Seagrams took over the studio (lil Edgar Bronfman Jr. needed a new toy). Edgar, being the genius that he is, commissioned Trey Parker and Matt Stone to make an internal film for studio employees to explain what changes would occur under the new management.

For those that don't know, these two guys are the talent behind Southpark and Team America. Needless to say, once Junior saw the film, it was quickly and quietly destroyed and never shown. Some of the participants are:

Steven Speilberg
James Cameron
Michael J. Fox
Sylvester Stallone
Demi Moore

And many others. All making fun of themselves - and Universal.

However...

A few intrepid individuals at the studio managed to do a capture of the film. It's shown up on the web a few times but Der Universal Lawerkinz always fire off a cease and desist order against web sites that have "hosted" it. Be that as it may, here it is - It's about 98 MEG and very crappy quality but it is a real hoot. So download it before I get my letter.

Sweeten, enhance and beautify. All this place needs is a porcelain deer and some wine coolers.

I've got mine downloading at 7kbps. I think something is wrong... is it my connection or the download?

That is the only format that I have of the film. It's what I got from the geeks when I worked at Uni. No idea what codec it's using.

Tom Marshall

codec: DIVX/divf name: DivX 4 (OpenDivX)

If it's slow downloading, blame my hosting service GoDaddy. They are cheap. For a reason :)

So. Ya think Cruise is worried about not being associated with Paramount? He could just go to Universal. :)

That was good. Guy has a thing for wine coolers and porcelon deer. I think the funniest character was Heavy D doing the 50's leave it to beaver talk.

From wikipedia:

"This provided a cash infusion, but the clash of cultures was too great to overcome, and, in frustration, five years later Matsushita sold control MCA/Universal to the Canadian (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canadian) liquor distributor Seagram (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seagram). Hoping to build a media empire around Universal, Seagram bought Polygram (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polygram) and other entertainment properties, and created MCA/Universal Home Video Inc. to enter the lucrative videotape sales industry; but the up-and-down profit in Hollywood was no substitute for a secure cash-cow like whiskey."

When I play the video, it opens in Windows media player and is just audio with visuals turned on.... anyone else?

Edit: I got it working... needed the DivX plugin/

Glad you guys liked it. Universal is really the smarmy studio in Hollywood. A cheese factory if you will. And cheap omg. The only thing they will do to me is send me a letter to tell me to take it down. So keep your copy of it :)

despite the fame and fortune, you can see the sensibility of what those guys do is pretty much the same - which is a good thing.

Considering they've isolated themselves from pretty much everyone in hollywood, I'd be curious to see how many celebs would do this with them today.

The Porcelain Deer made me lose it EVERY time!!

The fact of the matter is, it doesn't matter. they can do whatever the hell they want. they make unbelievably popular movies for dirt ass cheap.

see how well tom cruise is doing lately?

The Wine cooler thing is related to the fact that ALL employees at Universal under Seagrams got a $200 liquor allowance per year. I bought my dad bottles of The GlenLivet 18 year old whiskey with my allowance when I was there.

Well, to give you an example - I worked on the new film premiers and after-parties. The budget for the after-party for The Mummy, was $1.1M. $600K of that was for booze - Booze bought at a significant discount from Seagrams.
