Made a film last week. Shot on a Canon GL1. Pretty good camera. I've gotten lots of comments saying it was great and very good and they are talking about the story not how it was shot. I caught some things I messed up on like if you watch it and look to the right on the car of the reflection you can see me in an orange shirt with the camera filming.

Are you the actor with the orange shirt? Or is super bright orange just a popular color?

Not bad. The lead actor did a good job. Also, what mic did you use? Sometimes I couldn't hear the actors.
Overall, I liked it.

While I vehemently disagree with the message, the film itself is not bad. Is this a first effort?

yes I am. You could see me as a background character when the guy josh gave the poor person some money. And just plain orange looks like to me. I don't think it really matters how bright or dark the color is.

That was really good- I enjoyed it.
I think you should host it from somewhere with more space, so we can see it in it's original format, not tainted with down-rezzing from Youtube.

Well............poorly shot. Poorly scripted. Poorly acted. But you had conflict so thats a good start. Overall didnt work for me on many levels.

The dialogue offered nothing to the theme .... as I stated the conflict in him was clear (thats a plus). The camera was all over the place, surely thats obvious to even you. The edit cuts were mostly on action so thats also good, but some cuts just made a jump within the action. The actors were clearly very amateur ... at that end of the game its not uncommon though.
Theres a lot of work to be done and thats just IMO.

But you have to give him credit for making it, all in all.
I personally, (though sometimes distracting), thought that the jumpy action shots added something to it.

I certainly do. But the point was to give honest critique.

ok the camera was not all over the place because a tripod was used and some panning with just hand held. and the diologe went with the theme... not out of it.

Kudos on making it, but I'm with ncje on most of the critiques. If you don't learn from the criticisms how will you improve as a filmmaker?
I found the story trite and obvious. If you want to say something about faith do it with more subtlety, not with Christians trying to get a backslider back to church. That's just way too obvious.

ok, I got what you're saying.
