#1 - Because the first two did well at the box office.

Hey, did anyone see this trailers in theaters? I remember when he says, "hello america, you want to play a game?" the word "America" was substituted with "Cleveland". Did this happen in your city/town?

I hate these movies.

The only thing i liked about the first 2 were the trailers because they gave you specific scenes that worked really well to build buzz.

This trailer breaks that mold by giving you a generic flash clip preview trailer.

No thank you.

Yeah, it said "Los Angeles" instead on mine, lol.

I can't wait for this, I'm a saw fan, love the gore and twists.

I saw the first one in theatres.

Afterwards, I quit my job, left my family, and booked a flight to Egypt in search of a magic lamp.

After some 3 weeks of extensive and exhaustive research, which ultimately resulted in the coldblooded murder of 2 of my guides (and a nasty case of ghonnarea) I finally found one.

Some old man had possesion of it and traded it for my hand in marriage.

http://www.southing.com/photography/images/oldmanS.jpg

Well, I rubbed away and out popped a little surprise...

After the honeymoon, I was finally granted access to the lamp. I immedieatly summoned the Genie, and, to my disbelief, he was not a blue gaseous cloud on crack after all, nor was he a cute blonde sans a belly button.

It turned out to be Sloth, from the goonies.

http://cdn-25.cdn.buzznet.com/assets/users12/funbobby/default/msg-115592134752.jpg

To make a long story short, he offered me my three wishes (and a baby ruth).

I said "No sh!t", and immediately demanded that he give me back my 103 minutes I wasted on that f^%#$ stupid ass movie.

Well, turns out that Sloth in fact posseses no magical powers whatsoever, and actually is a mentally retarded man-child.

So, I just cold-cocked the sonofabitch and took the babyruth.

At least I got something from this whole ordeal.

At least I got something.

Something like this happened to me in China once.
After the first two days of a 1 week vacation I was shanghied (seriously no pun intended) by this monk http://www.dvxuser6.com/uploaded/15672/1156693530.gifwho wanted me to marry this girl because she needed to leave the country and hide from her evil uncle.

http://www.dvxuser6.com/uploaded/15672/1156692547.jpg

I was at aloss for words since I loved Jim Carrie in Liar Liar and couldnt understand
how a potential swinger like Jim who once yelled out to another guy,
"Jerry! Enjoy my wife!" was now trying to marrie a girl against her will.
I asked them our choices and the monk's asst. http://www.dvxuser6.com/uploaded/15672/1156693818.jpg
yelled out Viva Napal.
I cold cocked him and asked her what we should do?
After a week long yourney to Napal we found a golden child who was willing to grant us one wish
http://www.dvxuser6.com/uploaded/15672/1156692713.jpg
I made my wish but i couldnt understand if it had been granted because all he kept saying was,
"Data stop stop bad guy with srick shoes!", I fapped him in the forehead and brought the girl here.

Some people still ask me why I fapped him in the forehead and its always the same answer.
There is only one data.

apparently things like:

acting

and

a half way decent script don't matter to you.

I also hate frenetic editing and pointless 360 degree camera pans.

I agree, acting was horrible in the movie. But, I also have to give those guys credit for putting out of one of the best suspense/horror movies in years, if it wasn't so good it wouldn't have the fan gathering it has.

Saw was alright; watchable

But not a great horror film by any stretch. In recent years, my favorite horror films have been

Dawn of the Dead
Texas Chainsaw Massacre
28 Days Later
The Devils Rejects
House of 1000 Corpses
Identity (Although more Thriller IMO)

Even the recent Hills have Eyes was better than SAW I thought

Same as my list except mine has Session 9 at the bottom in place of identity.

All those movies you listed I agree on, except Indentity hated it.

But as far as SAW goes, I guess I can admit that I'm a huge fan of twists, and this made my day.

I didn't think it was that big a twist. I guessed it was the "dead guy" very early on for the sole reason that the story seemed to be ignoring the fresh corpse in the middle of this room.

My friend actually identified the killer in the first scenes of the movie. I don't know how but he said that for a split second he caught a sinister look flash across the old cancer dude's face and called it immediately. At the moment i didn't believe him but low and behold.

08-30-2006, 10:27 AM
Machinist... did you and your friend honestly called out the killer...? if you guys did, that's awesome cause I didn't see it a mile away... but I thought it was genius how it was that guy all the long... the movie itself was just ok... Actually it was the ending that did it for me... I didn't see 2 but I might rent it then see 3.

It's no means an incredible movie, but it's entertaining. Not everyone will have the same taste...

The Machinist
08-30-2006, 01:49 PM
Yea i called the dead body.

He called the cancer patient.

Turned out we were both right.

I don't know how he figured out his part cause i didn't see any "sinister look" until the gratuitous flashback at the end but i thought the dead body in the room that was being ignored was painfully obvious.

Maybe I've just watched too many horror flicks.

Actually looking back he may have been making a joke and when it turned out he was right tried to pass it off like he really knew all along. He's the type to do that.

So i guess we'll never know.

I haven't met one person who says they knew all the long, if they said they knew all the long, mostly they'rer lying... IMO that was the greatest mystery/twist in a film of all time... The "Other's" had a pretty cool twist also.

And I will edit my last post incase theirs a poor soul who hasn't seen it yet.. I'd hate to ruin it for them...

And for the record i don't think anyone else has as huge of a problem with it as i do.

I didn't think there was anything enjoyable about it. Those were just 2 of my pet peeves.

I thought it was a ridiculously flawed film with a horrible script, atrocious acting, and sloppy direction (with a few exceptions).

I'm sure you dislike plenty of movies dude and i'm sure that they're not all for good reasons or reasons everyone would agree with.

I'm just venting my frustration with a movie whose premise i liked alot and was totally and utterly dissappointed with.

So if you have a problem with me venting those frustrations ...well tough sh*t.

Its good to be passionate about what you like/dislike. A heated argument can be fun. I say Saw1 rules and you're all envious of its success and everyone gets rabid! Good! you're all passionate!
SAW1 was a huge success so it must have something dont you think?
People love SAW as they love or Fiday 13th or Freddy Flicks. good clean fun.
SAW1 has become a classical despite your opinion. When you watch a film and analzye its every move your losing its essence, you're becoming a critic and most humans hate critics, usually frustrated artisitic types (dont jump! not saying its your case)
Sometimes you enjoy your bigmac and fries and dont question its health value dont you?

Jason movies do suck, but come on Jason Vorhees himself is a legend, the character is just unforgetable.

But, of course my man Michael Myers is much better. :)

I will agree with your above point as arrogant as it sounds. You enjoyed it cool. So did alot of other folks. I still think its an unenjoyable piece of crap with no redeeming qualities.

However now I am going to take offense with the last statement Conquistador.
