After almost 2 years of hassle-free usage I actually managed to spill half a glass of beer-lemonade mix (called "Radler" in Germany) over my trusty DVX100AE. I cleaned up the mess and everything still seemed to be working. The next day I noticed the zoom ring had become sticky, exhibiting much more friction than normally. The zoom motor is having a hard time turning the ring, the zoom motion being sluggish.
I'm going to have to take it to service soon, only that I need it for a job next weekend.
Anyone have an idea as to how much it will cost approx. to have the lens/zoom mechanism disassambled and cleaned? Do you think I need to have parts replaced?

And please don't bash me for spilling the drink over the camera. It was NOT intentional!

That sounds like something I'd do. Good luck, man.

You're just saying that to make him feel better. #1. You'd never put lemonade in your beer, and #2. You'd NEVER spill a beer. :Drogar-BigGrin(DBG)

I'm starting to enjoy this thread :-)
However I'm not here to discuss whether you agree about mixing beer with lemonade or whether one should spill liquid over a camera. And by the way: WHO started pouring chillie, cheese and ranch dressing on top of french fries? The Germans?

Sorry, man. I wouldn't think you'd need any parts replaced, but a nice cleaning by a professional would be a good thing. I don't know how expensive it's going to be for ya.

CAn't you do it your self ? Do you have a warranty ? The problem is they gonna keep the camera for 3 weeks I think...:violin:
