I absolutely love my new DVX, yet I am still having one nagging problem. When I am shooting, the image in the viewfinder never seems to reflect the image that shows up on my monitor. It is always a few stops darker than what i percieved thru the viewfinder. My Sony VX2000 and G5 seem ti show a very similar image...so i don't think it is a monitor calibration problem. I tried treading through old forum questions, but i didn't find an answer. Thanks

Are you using a pro calibrated monitor?

No, I don't think so. I have a consumer ViewSonic A75f.

I think Shaw misunderstood your use of the word "monitor".

The VX2000, and the DXV, being different cameras, require different settings, you might just need to shoot the DVX up a stop.

I've gone into my Display Settings and eyeballed what I see on my computer screen with what I see in EVF and LCD Screen. It is as good of a solution as I can muster. Thanks

Keep in mind that your computer monitor will not give you an accurate representation of how your DV image will look on an NTSC monitor or tv set, and in order to properly assess your footage and make any post-production color correction, you should view it on an NTSC monitor, and also use the video scopes in your NLE to determine what your levels are.

Similarly, neither the DVX's LCD screen or VF will provide you with as accurate an image of your footage with regards to color and exposure as would a properly calibrated production monitor. Plus the image on both LCD and VF varies greatly depending on viewing angle. They'll do in a pinch, especially if you use your zebras to help determine proper exposure, but an NTSC monitor is your best bet.
