I've heard that only certain kinds of tapes should be used in the DVX. I usually use Sony's Mini DV tapes, are these okay?

You can search for tons of literature of that on here. But basically it boils down to sticking to one type of tape. If you start using sony, stick with them.

If it were me.....I would stop using the Sony's. The wet lube is more apt to cause head problems. I would clean the heads and switch to Panasonic MQ's which is what Panasonic reccomends for this camera. It is true that sticking to one tape is important, but I would make that one tape the dry lube tape that the manufacturer suggests. If you do switch to the MQ's it's crucial that you clean the camera's heads first.
