Hey Everyone,
I just recorded a new tutorial on creating 3D reflections in After Effects.
They're not "real" raytraced reflections but they look like it... Discovering this method was really an accident but I'll save that story for another day.

Anyways the project file comes with a few examples (ver 7) of differn't coloring and lighting styles. And if you don't know already AE doesn't handle reflective surfaces natively.

The tutorial will be going up on the cow in a day or two but I thought I'd give you guys the first stab at it.

Let me know what you think.

Always nice to share. Yes AE does light emission.

Edit:
Andrew with all the respect, it's kind of strange that users must scroll down the tutorials page to
see the newest tutorials. Shouldn't it be the latest ones first?

Thanks for the tutorial! Very cool stuff! Anytime I watch any of your tutorials, I always feel compelled to open up AE and start making stuff.

Thanks.
Hey Steve, I guess when I started out I had only 3 or 4 and it made sense to post them in order because none of the them were old yet.

But now with close to 20 it does seem a bit long. Perhaps our new home page will help; displaying only new things in order for return visitors and then the tutorial page will be a helpful archive for new users...

Good point.

"Yes AE does light emission." BTW what exactly do you mean here, I've used light transmission before but not create meaningful reflections...

Best,
Andrew

Sorry, I meant light transmission!! :S
It's more of a projection thing nor reflections.

Roger that. You know that might not be a bad tutorial Idea because some people may not realize that is an option when working with 3D... But if anyone asks It was my idea! Just kidding.

Thanks Andrew, I think I speak for everyone when I say that we really appreciate you taking the time to provide these tutorials for us. Since reading your tutorials I made a flip-book, slide show, old film-look movie, where a baseball player shoots a slightly out of focus, blemish free, soldier in the head and you see his bloody reflection. Did I mention the sky looked perfect?
