How would the work flow go for editing something shot in color in FCP and colorcorrected to b/w. Then in AE certain objects are supposed to be matted to be in color?
Any help would be great, we have a work flow down but it seems not to be the most effecient.

to make things black and white you can simply desaturate the clips in FCP. For more control, you can desaturate clips in AE. Remember a lot of your contrast was in your color channels, so you will most probably want to up the contrast to your black and white image. DF55mm and Magic Bullet Look Suite all have pre-made black and white looks, as does Natress Film Effects... if you don't want to play around with curves and levels yourself.
As for leaving things in color... well... basically, make your background black and white as you desire, duplicate the layer, remove the black and white effect so it is a color layer on top of your black and white layer... then... rotoscope out what you want to remain in color using masks and a ton of patience.... have fun with that it is one of the slowest, most tedious things you can do!
