Hi, I think this has been asked before, but how many hours (on heads) can a dvx typically last for?
I think pookie said at one point 3,000 easily? Could he have meant 300?
Thanks

We expect to get about 3000 hours out of the heads, if the user is careful.
Does cleaning effect life span?

What is an approximate cost for replacing the head?

I've heard about $800-$900.
Does anyone know if cleaning heads (or the lack of cleaning heads) effects their "life span"?

A clean tape path will improve camare performance and lifespan Loose tape particles can end up on the chips and increase wear. keep your camera clean and as much as possible away from dust and sand.
Read the section on cleaning heads...it should help.
Cameras will last a long time if taken care of and maintained. Motion Film cameras from the teens & twenties are still around in working condition!
On the other hand my DVX will last about 3 hours if I let the neighbor kid use it for his school project.
3000 hours to a head replacement? So my equipment cost will be $1 per hour? Cool.
I have heard PD-150 life estimated at 500-1000 hours. which means PD-150 is really a lot more expensive than a DVX100a...
