Like the feel of it already. It looks like a more psychological Horror flick. The more the merrier.

Cool stuff.

is it me or does that not look like a person's body ... just like a head floating in mid-air? nice poster and welcome.

thanks everyone for the welcome. It's my first DVXUSER fest actually.
And it is a psycho-thriller- but i was contemplating whether to add any shock-value to it... guess we'll see how it comes out.

Hey DVPixl,

Your banner/sig, is that your original artwork? Always thought that was neat. It reminds me of old school Final Fantasy video game instrucition manual stuff.

Have fun on the re-writes. I'm on number seven myself. I know another member mentioned FIFTEEN!!! Owies. And I can only imagine the work that goes into a six minute psycho-thriller.

thanks Kholi. the banner is my artwork yes. all from photoshop with a wacom tablet. good stuff.
I never realized how my drawings are mostly japanime influenced... i hate that about my drawings... i guess i have no range...

yeah, I'll have fun rewriting... thanks. I'm rewriting my screenwriters work since he doesn't really know how to write a screenplay... he just writes the stuff up and i fix, fix.

to be honest, we've already written a 40 page script 2 years ago... but it keeps on changing and I saw a chance to make it into a workable 5 minute story...

I wouldn't be too upset about having an anime influence. I have one, and it shows in everything I do, I think. I grew up on anime. =)

Good luck with fitting it into the five/six minute format. A task indeed.

Hey DVpixl,
We are kind of in the same boat production schedule/rewrite-wise.
When are you shooting and what are your strategies / how do you expect to get it all done? Do you anticpate a light or heavy post, etc. ?

dvpixl
08-27-2006, 08:02 PM
versus, that was funny. nice one.

jack, I'm probably going to shoot in september- we're looking at at least 3 days of shooting. not expecting to do heavy post but I do want to do heavy shooting, set ups, lights...

the latest script seemed to be totally simplified and might just take in one location- before it was 3-4. I mean, it's NY, it's hard enough to find any place to shoot if not your own house...

I do want to try and make it creepy as possible... but not gruesome... I wish I could hire an FX person to add a touch of some kind of monsterous subtlety.
I'm trying to drive this whole thing into a series of shots that will deliver tension and visually tell the story... i want to cut off as much dialogue as possible... but you see, right now, the pages are filled with yap yap yap....

... I edit pretty fast... i mean... not really gonna do any heavy fx work all that much to just answer the question....

I should have some photos of actors and test shots in a week or so.

thanks for checkin in.

still conceptualizing for the most part....

script is going through rewrites....

*got actors... i think...

to be shot with a good ol' DVX100A and Letus 35.
in a big rush...

*UPDATE____________________
it's a pretty much a loose schedule with lots of expected changes as we go... no location as of yet but looking for someplace that's really simple looking or with lots of texture...

actors secured.

just waiting for shoot day...

have some fx in mind.. but i probably can't afford it...

Very cool drawings. They show the emotion you have the characters feeling very well!

Those storyboards look great! Did you do them yourself? I wish I could draw like that. Mine look like crap. Definitely functional, but not pretty.

I also noticed your boards were in scope. You cropping for 2.35?

Yes. As long as the ouput is 16:9, you can crop inside that however you want.

These are obviously in 16:9 and not scope- hopefully the actual production shots will have more substance.

Well I think that your drawings are very effective. Not only do they compose the shot but there is a lot of emotion in them as well!

Looking forward to your film! I love a psycho-thriller!

You should definitely do some reading!! Lovecraft is a master of horror (like Movie Master is a master of terror..or something...).

Hi all, I am really really sad and depressed to announce that I will have to withdraw from the competition: crazy personal schedule, too many fallbacks that didn't fall in at all, plus my lead actor suddenly got sick and really, im already tired and dont feel like replacing him- it's just not the same.

so all of you who worried that I just might win this thing, no more worries.

dvpixl, there is no good news in that!

Sorry to hear about the roadblocks. I was looking forward to your HP Lovecraft adaptation.

Keep it in your back pocket.... there'll be another chance to shoot it, I'm sure.
