I'm new to After Effects, and self-taught on Premiere Pro. I've got some nice 720p steadicam and driving footage from my HVX that I would like to stabilize, then crop down to something like 720x480 and export it as down-rezed little trailer.

Is there an easy way to take stabilized 720p footage (after stabilizing, some of my footage has up to 30% of the screen edges black due to extreme camera tilt/shake on the Y axis) and crop it at the same time, or do I have to crop the shots down to 720x480 manually somehow?

I use Cineform Aspect HD and I am also wondering how I am supposed to move stabilized or altered clips from my AE timeline back to the Premiere Pro timeline.

Wait? You need to post stabilize Steadicam footage? Umm.. why?

Create a new comp 720x480, then drag the other 720p comp with the stabilized layer into it (nesting). Scale the newly created layer from the 720p comp to your likening. Meaning a just before black edges start to show.
