What is the actual resolution of DVCPro 50 and 25 when shot in squeeze mode? Is it 720 x 480 anamorphic or is it a higher horizontal res?

I think Barry responded to you in another thread about the 'squeeze' setting where he describes that squeeze simply means it is 16x9 rather than 'norm' which is 4x3. But you're still shooting at Standard Definition whether it be DV25 or DV50. So Standard Def frame sizes still apply. You'll simply have a standard def frame w/ a letterboxed image I believe is what it is.
cheers.

DVCPRO50 is, by definition, 720x480. No DVCPRO50 camera (including the $20,000 SPX800) can record higher resolution than that in DVCPRO50. The format itself is 720x480 (in the US; in EU it's 720x576).

I suspect Margie is referring to how it represents in a square pixel environment.
ie. a Widescreen DVD, though econded as anamorphic MPEG2 as 720x576 when played on a computer will stretch cover 1024x576 pixels.
By the same token, if I am creating graphics for a 16x9 PAL piece, I create them as 1024x576 even though the final piece recorded to tape will be 720x576
Rough calculations would suggest that the NTSC equivalent would be around the 854x480.
I hope that this helps, and does not confuse the matter.
Cheers
