1. How do I preview clips with the FireStore FS-100? I followed the steps in the manual, but it did not work. Can anyone give me a precise step by step instruction? I have firmware version 2.0
2. How can I set up the FireStore FS-100, so that it creates P2 compatible folders? Folders, that are recognized by the "P2 Select" tool of Edius?

Hi Pascal,
Download the FS-100 QuickStart guide from the Focus support site ( http://www.focusinfo.com/support/downloads.asp ). Page 14 describes the sequence for playing back clips through the camera. Please note, clips that are played back on FS-100 are only viewable on the HVX200 LCD, not the analog output. This is not possible with the HVX.
When you have finished a recording and you have stopped the FS-100, go to the UTILITIES menu and select the ORGANIZE P2 step...this will create the P2 directory structure.
Hope that helps,
Matt

Thank you so much, Matthew. I will have a look at it and then come back to you.
Update: I did not test the preview functionality yet, but the P2 folder creation. And it works so good, it is almost too easy now. :) Just shoot your stuff, create the P2 directory structure, connect the FireStore to the PC, and open the files in Edius Broadcast with the P2 Select Tool and you can work with your clips, you do not even need to do any copying.

You can playpack from the FS-100 and view an external monitor through the HVX's composite or s-video out-
Kind of dissapointing, quality wise, but at least you can verify takes and blocking, ala' the video taps of old-

Actually I think that's pretty sweet. It means I can hook up my DVD recorder to the camera and make copies for my clients who want to preview the footage. Most of them can't watch hidef at home.
