OK, as my name states, I am still learning and experimenting...

I have tried to shoot DV, yes DV, with HVX200 with household lights, using 6db gain and I found the following:

1) No noise beyond the ordinary.

2) Gamma CINE-D works the best for color

Even when I increase the gain to 12db, still looks good.

I am just telling you people, this camera is good but requires lot of manual setting.

LOL, what is the point of this post? I think most people would agree that Cine-D in DV mode with +12dB gain looks VERY noisy! At 6db you can mask the noise by choosing anything but CineD and messing with the coring/pedestal/detail/etc.

AshG,

That's my point. It did not look noisy to me. It looked great :D

Yeah, that -3dB on the XL2 produces some really noisy images...

JP,

Very very good question. I am ashamed to admit this, but I am looking at it through 30 inch Standard Definition NTSC TV set. I know I know. I need to get a real tool to monitor. And I am slowly getting them. :)
