First post here... Ive been following the board for quite some time as I have been trying to decide whether or not to pick up an HVX this fall or not.
I would be using the camera for documentaries mostly and it seems like it will be a great addition to my quiver of cameras.

There have been two questions that I have not been able to find the answer to, hoping somebody can help:

- Can you shoot variable frame rates onto MiniDV or is this function limited only to the P2 card?

- If no, I am aware that you can dub the P2 clips onto your miniDV tape in the camera during use. My question is, say you are transferring from P2 to MiniDV and a moment of action occurs - can I hit record and begin recording another clip to the card while it is still transferring to tape or does the camera need to be left alone while dubbing to tape?

You can shoot 24P, 30P and 60i to miniDV.... You can record any of the frame rate in 720P onto the P2 cards. Once you have recorded it, you have to put the camera in DUB mode and dub them in real time to DV. I dont think you can record while you are dubbing, havent tried it but I am not sure how that would work.
