Hi everyone,
This question regards the PAL version of the HVX.
Is it possible to record Slow motion(50fps) in SD resolution??.
In other words, I want to to Shoot in Slow motion but not at 720p because my avid xpress pro HD doesnt support it. i know version 5.5.2 does support 720p,
but im not able to obtain it. ofcourse i will be happy to shoot Progressive and not Interlaced.
Im using Avid Xpress pro HD version 5.2.3 and i have the option of using P2 cards or to record to the firestore device(which i know doesnt support 50fpsp).
Thank you all,
mook.

Yes and no.
The camera can only shoot variable framerates (anything other than 50i and 25p) at 720p to P2 card. You can't shoot variable framerates such as slowmo in SD.
You can however copy 720p (variable) footage from a P2 card to MiniDV tape (to regular 25p SD DV) in camera.

Thank you Mikko for the quick reply.
So does it mean that in the HVX there is an operation of down converting the 720p footage to MiniDV tape in a push of a button? is it that easy?.
This solution is very good for me as long that it really works.
Has anybody done that allready?
Peace,
mook.

It might take 3 ro 4 button pushes, but yes, the camera can downconvert 720p to DV tape.
You do of course need a P2 card to originally record to.

To verify this, yes everything Mikko is saying is true. You can incorporate variable-frame-rate footage into your standard-def DV productions, all you have to do is record the VFR footage in 720pN mode to the P2 card first, then you go into "DUB" mode and it'll automatically convert the footage into 16x9 DV and record it on the DV tape.
