The Canon 20D has 5.0 fps. With the release of the 30D (a newer model with only a few small upgrades) you can get a cheap 20D. If price isn't important, look into both cameras and see if the extra features will help you. I know the 30D has a slightly bigger buffer, so it can handle the extra stress of a few more images taken in a burst without lagging.

thats if you have good set of canon lenses but if you are a Nikon user the D2x is a great camera it does 5fps at 12.4 megapixels & 8 fps at 6.8 megapixels (with some cropping i think) & lets say you are a Nikon user & on a budget the D200 will do 5fps asell.
If you havent currently invested in either canon or nikon lenses then great check out all the options available as to what you will be using the camera for, i.e more wideangle or more telephoto... for telephoto work the 1.4x magnification factor on the APS-C size sensors may prove helpfull when you just need an extra reach with a considerabely less telephoto lens... on the other hand a full frame sensor will give you that extra wide view you might miss with the APS-C sized sensor... so do your research & know what you are going to be using the system (camera & lens/lenses) for before you commit to buy.
Good luck with the high speed photography you are looking into.

haha sorry didnt read urs. I love my d200. It really helps me get the action with 5FPS. here's one: although it could be sharper...I was shooting handheld at 200MM 80-200 AF-S 1/500 F/2.8 ISO 500 http://www.aerosolcheese.com/pix/22.jpg

Well, I just got about 3 weeks ago. Switched from the d100. Night and day difference. I also dumped my 18-70, 70-300G, and am in the process of unloading my 80-200 AF-S on ebay. I replaced those with a 17-35, and a 70-200 (VR is awesome) I'm gonna round it all off with a TC14e teleconverter

The d200 is also a great camera. But keep in mind Nikon glass is usually more pricey than Canon glass. Also, if grain at high ISO's is a factor, the D200 is much more grainy than the 20D.
