Hi guys. In about a week I am going to be shooting a small video... about 4 minutes in length, but plan to take atleast 2 hours of footage. I am not sure whether to shoot in 60i or 24p because I will be constantly tracking, panning, tilting or otherwise moving with the camera, and am not sure about the strobing from 24p. The shoot will take place completely outdoors starting from about 7am, and again, will pretty much be a shoot consisting of tracking shots. I would like to go for the 24p film look, but I am not confident on how to operate without getting too much strobe.

Would I be better off just being safe and shooting 60i? If 24p, can anyone give any advice or tips on how to shoot with minimal ill effects?

Thanks in advance.

Between now and then, go play around with the types of shots you plan on using in 24p and see if it'll work for you. Remember that you need to pan a little slower in 24p to avoid strobing.

What type of video are you shooting? if it's a short film, go 24P for sure.

Like Horse said... just pan a little slower on your shots, and you should be fine.

What will also help is when your tripod mounted and doing your tracking work, turn off your OIS because that can cause a lot of strobing in pans and tilts, etc. Whats happening is that the OIS is fighting against the pan, trying to keep it stabalized, which results in that kind of jerky, stroby look. See if that works for you, it always has for me!

Good point. I forgot to mention that.
