Is there a type of program out there that has pre-made effects such as, Fire, Smoke, Explosions, ect. That you can just drag onto your video a place where every you want?

Particle Illussion 3 is indeed the fastest, easiest, and best looking (to a point) sorce for all kinds of particle based effects, and uses your video cards acceleration to render . . . .

But, it's only 2D, and the particle dynamics really don't touch a 3D app. But, for down and dirty, quick and easy, and with multiple layers in a compositing package, you can really do some great stuff.

In fact, Combustion's (3 I think) particle system was Illusion 2. They bought them out. Particle illusion is far superior and more versitle than Trapcode's Particular, excepting that with Particular you can get 3Dish.

Nothing touches a real 3D app for particles, but with the render times, compexity, and software knowledge you need to get the mose out of a 3D package's particle system, sometimes Illusion is better.

What would you like to see?

I'll put something together.

Also at http://www.wondertouch.com/index.asp under examples they have some pretty darn good stuff.

Trapcodes particular can achieve a whole lot of cool stuff like that, check it out.

A problem with Particular would be that it only works inside After Effects.
Another Option is Effects Lab.

Stand alone Mac/PC and seems to cover what you need.
