PLEASE HELP ME SOMEBODY!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok, I editing this project in Premiere pro 2.0. It is just under 4 hours in length.
I created menus/chapters and a nice background for the DVD using premiere's DVD layout options. When I click to Burn DVD it says "Space required is more than 4.7 GB" under status. Obviously I have too large a video project for Premiere to handle. Right? I mean Ive tried different compressions options- nothing works. I have to cut my project down to LESS THAN 2 HOURS in length before I get a "status ready" message to allow me to burn the thing.

Is there a way to overcome this limitation? I thought if I compressed the video enough it would fit. I mean you can burn up to 6 hours on a concumer DVD recorder that attaches to your television set.

Should I be looking at different software for this? (obviously) Will Adobe Encore overcome this snag for me and allow me to author a longer DVD??

Software suggestions anyone?

Thanks!!

The last I checked, encore will automatically compress a project to fit a disk (at great expense to bitrate) so that could work. The better (quality wise) solution would be to get a dual-layer drive and burn your project to a dual layer DVD. The downside is that it's a little pricey.

You can get 2 hours of material onto a single layer DVD with a CBR of around 4.5 and 5/MBs. And that's using Dolby AC3 audio. Squeezing 4 hours using even VBR encoding is probably going to look crappy.

Dual layer burners are relatively cheap now and the media (last time I bought) is $6-7 per disc.

Or, you could build the DVD to a folder for 9 gb disc then use a free app called DVD Squeeze (a DVD ripper - download at www.afterdawn.com) to "sqeeze" the contents of that folder to fit a 4.7 disc. You might be surprised at how well it works.
