sorry if this has been asked many times before but have searched for a long time with no conclusive answers
I need to convert dv avi into mpeg2 for my films to be played off a flash card in a gallery. I have used adobe premieres media encoder but am not that impressed with the results, compared with mpeg2 dvds I've made with adobe encore. However I cant seem to get encore to make an mpeg2 file - it only seems to make mpeg2 dvd files. Is there a way of getting encore to make mpeg2 only, or is there a better mpeg2 encoder that I can use - I've already had to uprez my films from 4:3 to 16:9 using photozoom pro & find that premieres encoder reduces the quality quite a bit.
anyone help?

I've had good experiences with TMPGenc, it supports a lot of flexibility
on how you want the MPEG configured and doesn't box you into the DVD
standard.

I've also used used MainConcept MPEG Encoder, I believe this is also
available as a premiere plug-in, it offers flexibility over just about every MPEG
parameter.
