I'm currently using Premiere Pro 7. I'm wondering what would be the best settings for outputting to a DVD. I tried one already, but the footage went all different from what it was on the preview monitor. It was all pixelated, but the text looked fine. So I'm confused. Also I tried to create a credit roll, but that's messed up too, but like everything else it looks different compared to the preview monitor.

It's bothering me, so any help would be muchly appreacited.

Also I'm using a Canon XL-2 with 16:9 aspect ratio selected. If that helps.

I just send these settings to my friend doing an encode, These should apply to you as well. If you are using a 23.97 fps timeline you will have to set it accordingly. I believe if you did 24p, you would also not use The field seperation. Burn 30second tests or you might be kicking yourself for doing a 5+ hour render just to find out that you have to do it again.

(I used the NTSC 16x9 VBR 4mb 2 pass as my template because most of these settings are filled out correctly)

VIDEO:
Quality 5
NTSC
720x480
29.97 Non-drop frame
Lower Field order
Widescreen Pixel Aspect Ratio

VBR 2 pass

Min bitrate 1.5
Target bitrate 6.0
Max Bitrate 7.0

AUDIO: PCM

Once your settings are all set, your summary should look like this

NTSC, 720x480, 29.97 non-drop frame [fps], Lower, Quality 5.0
48 kHz, 16 bit, PCM
VBR, 2 Pass, Min 1.50, Target 6.00, Max 7.00 [Mbps]
