Alright, I just bought this camera off of a friend of mine recently and I'm having a bit of trouble with it. When shooting, I use maual focus and zoom all the way into my subject to get the focus and then pull out. I always use this technique with my XL1 and its fine but when I pull out to a wide shot the camera starts to loose focus. I think something is just wrong with it but I don't know what. Any ideas? Also, it says Macro focus on the screen, should this constantly be on? Can you turn it off? Thanks in advance. (I should also mention, zooming in general seems to make it loose focus.) - Mike

From what you describe, It sounds like the back focus (the alignment from the lens to the CCD) is out of whack. If this is the case it will need to be adjusted at a service center.
Check for signs of a drop or a hit on the unit.

Just noiticed the part about "Macro" on the screen. It should go off if you point the camera at something far and zoom in and out once. If it doesn't come off, the service center is the way to go.
