So far the script is almost done, we have all the locations, a composer and we're just looking for talent now. We're hoping to shoot late August.

More to come as it unfolds.

Yesturday we hired an actor for one of the leads. He's a perfect fit for the part, so we're excited about that.

The script is about 95% of the rough script is done and should be finished tonight. After that, we are touching up the dialogue and it'll be good to go.

Storyboarding will be start next week some time and will hopefully be done by the following week.

Updated poster coming shortly.

As we make progess, I'll be sure to update.

Any comments or questions are welcome.

Minor changes are being made to the script now and it's completion should be tomorrow or Friday.

We worked out what we're going to need for props and made a list of things we need to build. We're hoping to buy the stuff next week.

Storyboarding should start this weekend/early next week.

Still looking for an actress and another actor, we planned on shooting end of August/beginning of Sept so hopefully we'll find them soon.

A new updated poster and smaller banner should be coming along in the next few days.

Looking forward to it.
If I had to guess from your poster and the translucent layering ... I'd say a ghost thing maybe?
Any updates? Got it cast yet?

Nope, it's not a ghost story. I never really thought about the translucent layers and what they could portrayed. I through it together quickly and not 100% satisfied w/ it. I plan on redoing it w/ the actor's photo up there instead of mine and a few other minor changes. We're going to add on a tag line with it too for the new one.

We may have an actress. She acted in high school and in college. She seemend a little interested in doing it, but we're still looking for someone who is 100% into it and not just doing it to help out.

The other actor is kind of up in the air. We have one who is in the same position as the actress (minus the acting experience). But I think he could pull it off.

The script is done and I started doing the storyboards the other night. I will be doing more of them today/tonight.

We managed to get a shotgun mic and some lights to add to the list of our equipment. We just need a dolly and a few other props.

With in the next couple of weeks. We're going to do set up some stuff and do a test run (w/ out actors most likely) to get a good idea of how we're going to set everything up and have everything down pat so we dont' waste any time figuring things out when we're going to shoot.

Shooting will no longer take place at the end of august, but after September 5th. After the 5th we have access to some equipment that we would like to use. We're hoping it'll take a day or two. All that could change though, depending on our talents schedule.

Thanks for the detailed response ... and yes if you can get an actree that's more into it go with her for sure. Good luck with it!

I came up with a possible new ending for the movie. I'm just waiting for the response from the rest of the crew and then will add it to the script. It's a more complete ending and should look really cool with what I have in mind in terms of shooting/editing.

Until the feedback comes in. I'll be working on the pathetically drawn storyboards.

The latest is this:

We have a new ending. The one I thought of went over well w/ the crew then we worked on it and it's suppose to be written today. Could be done now for all I know. The new ending is great, I really like it a lot more than the old one. It's a more complete ending.

I sent a script (w/ the old new ending [before we changed it again]) to one of the main actors. He has yet to read it yet but plans on it today. We may have another actor, he has previous acting experience. I'm not too sure if his look fits the part but I think he can pull off the part.

Still haven't found a definite lead actress but will probably go with the one w/ no acting experience because her schedule a little bit more.

It looks like shooting will take place a Mon and/or Tues in Sept after the 5th. No definite dates yet but to convenient the talent and their days off, it'll most likely be a Mon/Tues.

The storyboarding process has been going along pretty slow. I usually do it while working and have downtime and could probably do a lot tonight but seeings how I can watch any and every football game on tv, I will be watching the Miami Dolphins tonight with a little storyboarding sprinkled in. They're about 4 pages in, we have about 13 pages.

The dolly and prop situation is kind of up in the air. We don't know now if we will be able to obtain/build a dolly, which is kind of dissapointing but for the rest of the props we are still looking for the best things we can get for our small budget.

I will probably start working on some of the opening credits with in the next two weeks. So a still from that might be up. I'm just waiting for a picture from the actor that we have locked to throw it into the new poster. Speaking of poster, is the heart that's in there at all noticeable? I have no problem picking it out, but I made it. When I designed it, I didn't want it to stand out like a sore thumb, just kind of faint but a little noticeable? So has anyone even noticed it?

Our main actor has a sony hd camera and will be shooting behind the scenes sutff with it so he can use his camera more and we can have some BTS footage. I'll also be taking pictures w/ my regular digital camera too when we start shooting.

That's about everything going on now. I'll be sure to post as we get more updates.

Thanks for the interest.

Now that you point it out I notice it, but I never did before.

Script is done. The new ending was our last revision. We're happy with it and looking forward to shooting, even though it's half a month away. We still need to get a lock on talent though.

Hopefully Wednesday or Thursday, the cowriter is going to come down to CT and we're going to go over shots and lighting and a various other things.

We set up the 2 lights that we had and tested some stuff out the other day. Conclusion, we need more lights and more time to set things up. We threw it all together fairly quickly, just to test out various things.

HE IS NOT AN ACTOR. He's the cowriter and whatever else it is he is going to do, he's not acting. The framing and composition of the shots won't be like this in the movie either.

We bought some props the other day, totaling a little under 40 bucks. We priced out pieces for a dolly which we will most likely build as well as some more lights and a few other things.

We're hoping to get together one more time and set everything up, and a possibly run through with talent before we start shooting.

Tentative shooting date: SEPTEMBER 18.

We now have an actress. She has very little experience but I'm hoping she can nail it. We just need one more actor and we're through. Hopefully during the weekend we will fill that void.

On my digital camera I have how we set up some of the lights. Also shots of the locations. I'll try to put some of those up in the next few days.

We secured the lead actress and also the remaining actor part. So casting is done. We're getting pretty syked about it and can't wait to start shooting. Shooting will be a one day shoot on September 18. We intend on getting together atleast one more time this month and hopefully once or twice in Sept to test some things out and get prepared for the shoot.

We just need to order the fake blood which I plan on doing in the next couple of days and I plan on picking up one of the DVXuser batteries. Does anyone know how long they take to ship? over night? 2 day? 3? regular ground?

Thanks.

I should have some location shots up with in the next couple of days also.

Yeah, I love shooting. That's probably the only thing I miss about working in local news.

I bought 32oz of the Bill Nye fake stage blood and some of the thick blood the other night, as well as the DVXuser battery & book too. Depending on how much money I have after the 1st, I'll probably get some more stuff for the lights (i.e. gels, lights, etc). Possibly going over more shots too.

Like I've said before, location shots coming soon. They actually will be too.

Here's to getting enough money on the 1st to fund your project.

Also, having the DVX books is really great. A guy at my workplace owns one and I've gone through it a few times, nice stuff.

Are you going to get a prop beating heart for your short? =P One that squirts blood from open ventricals?

Naw, we just used a cow's heart from the butcher shop. Ripped out of the chest like Kano from Mortal Kombat.

Just found out today that we lost our main actor do to a Mexican vacation. We still plan on shooting on the 18th so we're looking for someone else to fill his place. It's too bad too because he fit the role perfectly.

On a side note, we went through all the lighting set ups and camera shots, almost shot for shot the other day. I'll post some if I end up capturing the footage.

My fake blood (Ben nye's) should be in shortly so the blood bath can begin, that is when we get another actor.

Unrelenting is dead. We lost an actor earlier this week before we shoot & it was pretty much impossible to make that particular movie w/ out him. We tried finding another actor but couldn't.

We are in the process of coming up with something else before Saturday so we can send it out for the shoot on Monday.

In another related set back. My apartment complex may be paving the parking lot that day, we planned on using the parking lot so we may have to work on that too.

On a positive note though, my fake blood came in the mail :)

How many butcher shops did you have to go to to find a cow heart? We were on the receiving end of some disgusted looks when we asked for a pig heart, until finally a real butcher in a real butcher shop told us we could probably find a pig heart at an asian market - and voilą. Package of 3, $4.
