Hi all,

I am doing a two-camera shoot of a short play I wrote with 20 child actors. I would like to be able to, have two DVX100 running with the time code slaved between them. Is this possible, if so how? Setting cables everything. Also could I do it with one DVX and one Cannon XL2? (Only because I have both, but would need to rent another DVX) Trying to save myself a huge headache in the edit.

I will be getting audio from the theaters soundboard and running it to one of the cameras XLR inputs.

Any ideas or suggestions would be great.

thank you for your help..

If you have 2 - dvx100B's you can slave the TC. But otherwise it's just gorilla style. You can supposedly set both cameras (if they're both dvx's) using the remote control to have the same tc - but I can't say I've actually tried it. What I tend to do is shoot "freerun" tc set to time of day and get as close as possible in the beginning of the day and then periodically shoot the LCD screen of the opposing camera to see the running TC and use it as an offset in edit. Or if you have a smart slate you can roll both camera's to see the matching TC or just have somebody "sync clap" often during the shoot. Pretty much at the top of every scene/take. I find this an annoying option, personally. But, it's quick and effective. Hope this is helpful.

Do you know what to do with the remote to slave the TC?

If you set the cameras next to one another you should be able to control both menus with the remote at the same time. You basically set the TC using the one remote and both cameras should match. Keep in mind that the timecode will drift overtime. Hope this helps. I think there is more info on this in Barry's Book???
