Hello!

I just got my DVX a few months ago, and my footage looks so grainy.

Is there a thread or book to explain in detail how to import DVX footage into Final Cut Pro to achieve a beautiful image?

I admit I have not ventured too deeply into Final Cut Pro yet (just been concentrating on learning how to operate my camera). Mostly I import into Imovie just to see a quick image. But I need to learn FCP, and I would love to begin with the best technique.

I searched the threads, but I haven't found a step by step in importing and exporting for the best resolution.

All help will be greatly appreciated!

P.S. I am not familiar with many of the post production terms, so a book that starts with basic steps and has detailed definitions and explanations would be great!

It is likely that you are simply filming without enough light. Capturing DV to your computer should be a lossless process, so if you're footage is grainly, is is likely because of how you filmed it.

Do you have gain on?

Hi,

No I don't have gain on, and the image isn't grainy in the camera. It also isn't grainy in Imovie until I watch it full screen. When I play it back at the regular size it looks fine, but when I enlarge the picture it looks really grainy.

Would you happen to know the cause of this?

Thanks!

Are you recording 30i or 24p?

Also, do you see a difference in the grain when switching between the modes?

Is it a grain or is it a pixelation?
