What motion tracking software is available that is used to make CGI 3d objects track with real footage?
Thanks,
Craig

Well there are quite a few, and they range from cheapo to mega bucks,
Spectrum : Low end
Name: PFTrack (pixel farm)
Website: http://www.thepixelfarm.co.uk/
My view : Its a load of poop (well the version I used, but things may have changed with newer releases)
Spectrum : Mid range:
Name : Syntheyes
webiste : http://www.ssontech.com/
My view: damn good, I love it
Spectrum: High end
Name : Boujou
Website : http://www.2d3.com/
My view: pro stuff (never used myself so no comment really)
And a ton of others.

Get a pro to do it for you or pound on Syntheyes till it you get good enough. Bad tracking will RUIN a shot.. and this is coming from a professional 3D tracker.
The 2 really good packages are $10K. The rest are interesting toys :)

Thanks Guys,
Would you like to read the parts of the script that I am thinking about doing this on? Perhaps you guys have a better idea how to pull this off.

If you want a freebie, you can search the web for Icarus. It was the free pre-cursor to PFTrack (PFHoe).
I've seen some nice stuff done with it, but I don't know how much work it took.
This is a cool demo animation using SynthEyes to track in a real forest video:

Mark Johnson used 'boujou 4' for Rekindling. Someone gave me an old copy of '2' a few days ago so can't comment yet. But I'm going with Mark's and Anhar's advice.

Trying to find Icarus seems doubtful. Apparently it's dead. Here is a page giving a decent description of what you are looking for.

Boujou and Realviz are the most used. However for best tracking your shoot should be supervised by an fx supervisor that know how to best set up tracking marks for 3d tracking.

If you're looking for a free solution, there's Voodoo Camera Tracker (http://www.digilab.uni-hannover.de/docs/manual.html). I've used it a little, seems to work OK. The main reason the spendy ones are worth is they have features for troubleshooting tricky tracks.

EDIT: Sorry, should specify this is a Windows-only solution.

Yes ive used Voodoo 9.0 and it seems to work ok. Dunno maybe the rather expensive ones have more tweaking abilities. Hey guys ive posted a fresh thread on this forum a few mins ago. Can any of you help with that question plz. Im sorta ok now with tracking within 3ds max. But i need help with a specific question on matching concept. Plz see if you can help.
Thanks

Anybody here using Blender? I've got some questions I'm hoping you might be able to answer.
