Recently i got to shoot a special episode of Jamie Kennedy's "Blowin Up" for MTV alongside the great D.P. David Thies.
After the 15+hour day, in the wee hours of the morning after wrap, we were sitting around shooting the shiznit so I decided to turn on the cameras and do a quicky little interview with Jamie, Stu and David about shooting digital.
As many of you may remember, Blowin Up is all shot on DVX's, and David Thies is now shooting with his new HVX200.
here is the video, and be warned, the language is not for kids.
right click and save as -> http://www.dvxuser3.com/blowinup.mov (http://www.dvxuser3.com/blowinup.mov)
while its downloading if you havnt read it yet, you can read the interview i did back when here:

Jarred,
Thanks for coming out and spending the day shooting with us. The lens cap was on for the first 2 hours of the day. Were you even monitoring?. . .HA HA. No, everyone enjoyed working with you. It was a pleasure and I can' t wait to work with you again. Hopefully underwater in Hawaii chasing sharks around.
This was for a spoof infomercial but we are actually selling there in CD, T-shirts and ring tones. We spoofed the exercise video, blemish free skin and a girls gone wild kind of look. It should be airing next week late night in the informercials timeslots. . .
You can go to JKssrecords.com to see what they are up to. The album is very funny with some surprise guests.

Good group of guys.
Oh it was shot 720 24pN 24 ... no light as you can tell and internal mic. Everything kinda sucked but it was a spur of the moment thing.. and the content makes up for the crappy audio.

Yeah it was finally nice to shoot with someone that was as tall as I was. Now at least the eyelines match. Jarred was an animal out there. Going the extra mile for the shot. At one point I look up Jarred had climbed a tree to get a coconuts view of the gratto scene in Jamies Hottub. A for effort man. I have put my order in for the underwater housing for my new hvx200 from equinox. Looks like I can sell my dvx100a housing and camera

exactly.
jamie and Stu had me laughing for the whole shoot. They are exactly as you see on the show and this interview. Really cool guys. Although we were instructed to not look them in the eyes at anytime of the shoot. Camera guy werent allowed to look in the viewfinder. We had to "VIBE" the composition of the shot. In the beginning of the show more than half the time the 2 werent even in the frame. (Ha Ha)

Very nice, Not exactly the oddest request i've hered but It alsways make for fun filming when your shooting from the hipe and can't see what your frame is. And sometimes you get damn lucky

At the time we did the interview their MTV shows ratings hadn't been what they wanted so litterly that day they were kind of in a funk about it. We shot this interview late at night after a 15 hour day of shooting. We crammed like 3 days of shooting into 1 for this piece we were doing. So all of us were kinda spent. IT had been a long day. . .
Man cool gig and interview. Would be a blast to hangout/work with those guys.

MTV = Music Television....I believe this is called false advertising? LOL well whatevers MTV fails it. On some cable companies you can have a lot of different VH1's like vh1 soul, vh1 classic, espanol etc etc.

That video was VERY inspirational! Like, I already knew all of that stuff, but to hear it said by someone in the game just confirms it even more for me. The video was so entertaining also, that it made me want to go get my cam and just shoot WHATEVER I see..thanks for posting that. Jamies cool, especially after the Bob Sagat video.

After checking out the interview, I was inspired to check out the show Blowin' Up on iTunes. It was so entertaining, I ended up downloading all of season one, and watching within two days. Amazing considering I'm not a huge fan of Reality TV, or Hip - Hop. When it comes to things that are sweet, I guess I can't help but be a consumer - whore.

Check out www.jamiekennedy.com for tour dates for music and stand up. and if you go and see him. Let him know you dug the interview he did for dvxuser.com

Wow, maybe I'm not even worthy of a post here, but it seems I'm the only guy who thought 2 of the 3 of those guys weren't worthy of an interview of any kind. To me, they didn't really have anything of value to say and it appeared that either 2 of the guys were drunk or stoned.
I appreciate the interview with the "celebrities" but oh my.... I can only HOPE that nobody truly found anything these two knucklehead's had to say was remotely inspirational! If so, you DEFINATELY need to get out a little more. This guy Jamie on the left has the oh-so typical "I'm the man" complex going on that I see all too frequently in wanna-be celeb's.
I do appreciate the type of interview, just not the subjects of the interview and I don't see it all that relevant to this site. Just my two cents...

Jarred, thanks for showing. You certainly do get some choice/sweet gigs. To follow up there, they seem quite down to Earth and decent guys.. which is a big thing out there. As far as being a wanna-be, I think that Jamie Kennedy is already there as a celebrity. I did enjoy his TV show and some of his movies.
I remember meeting Alan Arkin back in college and he went off about Hollywood and about the crap and this and that... but ultimately, it's the industry that he had to work in to get his stuff done. I think a lot of people out there aren't happy with it and resent it.. but are forced to go along. Then there's some like Chapelle that have enough and get out before it consumes them. Personally, I think their message about doing something on your own.. is pretty much a mantra that we all should be following. I know personally I'm much more happy producing my small time projects than being just another warm body on some major Hollywood shoot.
Jarred... thanks again and you certainly are getting the word out about your site and services. Got any plans to put together a video blog/ web show? Or something else in the works?

Their single "Circle Circle Dot Dot" was the free single of the week on iTunes. Not bad, fun in a kitch sorta way, and the beat's infectious enough to make it a guilty sort of enjoyable listening experience, like Nelly. In fact I'm listening to it right now.

Just did a SON OF THE MASK google and wow, great reviews
This is without a doubt the worst movie I have ever seen. I say this without hyperbole, and believe me, I've seen a lot of bad movies. It's embarrassing and annoying that millions of dollars went into this film and that hundreds (thousands?) of craftspeople spent so much time working on what the writers and producers MUST have known would be a colossal failure.
When a 90 minute film feels this long, drawn out, boring, and incomprehensible, you know that something went wrong somewhere. Also, Jamie Kennedy (whose work I've enjoyed elsewhere) is simply terrible in this role; he was obviously never given a screen test, because no producer in their right mind would consider him entertaining in any way, especially in the guise of The Mask. Simply awful.
Personally, I can't wait to see the reviews by the major film critics, because I know they're do a better job than me at tearing this train wreck to shreds.
The producers of this film should be embarrassed, and more importantly, NEVER be allowed to make theatrical films again
Ah and I guess porn isn't a huge hit for old Jamie either since his scene in Boogie Nights (1997) was deleted LMFAO

He basically says he "doesn't know sh*t about technology", but he gets a great DP and great director who do.
And LEARN HOW TO TELL A STORY before you worry about making it look fancy.
And stop using tape because you have to digitize it and he's going to stop using tape and use P2 (well he says straight to hard drive, but also admits he knows nothing about technology) so he can edit that day. And make a movie quicker, and see digital dailies at full res. Then he drops the fbomb a few times and says hes gonna forget about hollywood and make his own stuff. And me must smoke alot of pot. Oh and "SHUT UP AND SHOOT IT."
I have the movie file on my hard drive somewhere. But I think the link is just broken because the forum version has changed.
