I have some footage where a hat was worn backwards and it had a piece of tape (white on a black hat) covering a logo. Now they want that removed. The kicker being half way through the scene the hat changes and has a big logo not even kind of covered that needs to match the previous hat. Any suggestions would be helpful

First thing you need to do is (unfortunatley) rotoscope the area that needs to be replaced.
There are a few things you can try.
One, use the clone stamp tool. Use the footage from the first hat to clone stamp the second hat.
Two, create a black solid from a sample color of the hat, add some grain or noise to match and animate that into the rotoscoped area.
It would be helpful to see some example frames of what you are talking about.

not sure if i can post images from it since i dont own the footage but here is the problem that im running into i cant find a way to key frame the clone tool to move and also wehn i put a solid behind the mask since the original is moving i cant get it to look natural when he moves it looks like a piece was cut out and something was put in its place.

Instead of using a solid, use a piece of the texture from the hat. I often shoot out a still frame and get a nice area of texture to work with.
Also, another thing that will help it match the scene is to make that texture layer a 3D layer and drop a light in your AE comp that comes close to resembling the lighting of the scene.
