What are everyone's summer vacation plans?

I just got back from a week at Jax, FL....

Yosemite in August. If you like astronomy and dark, clear skies it's hard to beat. Although, we've had to scare bears away on several nights.

It's also incredible during the day, as most of you probably already know. Just avoid the annoying crowds in the valley.

Just got back from NJ.

Maybe go to Greece in August, but I doubt it.

Gotta make a horror film, so...

13 days until the family and I drive to Colorado.

Mountains, swimming, hiking. I can hardly wait.

I'm trying to convince my wife to let me take my DVX, rather than my little one chip Sony TRV-8 that I have historically used for family outings. Packing space is at a premium, however.

So....do you take the DVX on vacation with you? If so....what accessories do you find room to bring along, or, that you're allowed to bring along?

Baseball trip from Charlotte, NC to NYC (Yankees Games) and then a day trip to Cooperstown for the Baseball Hall of Fame... I only have two days left on my vacation, but it's been a lot of fun so far... Yet, I continue to pay $10 a day for internet at the hotel so I can log in and post junk like this.

I didn't bring the DVX, but I brought my D50... Size considerations and just didn't want to risk damaging it.

Currently in Alaska for 4 monthes, then back home to Finland for school in the fall.

Went out for a quick impromptu afternoon fishing trip today. Went light with just a spare t-shirt, 2 cameras, a Merlin and a tripod. I think I'm obsessed.
Only cought a few fish though, 2 Halibut and one King Salmon. But nothing big enough worth keeping.

wow... *jealous*

I brought my D70, PV910, JVC 3.1MP, and smartphone... Left the DVX this year to spare it moisture and sea spray. Brought Laptop and 750GB in external HDs....

Went to SC to visit my GF's father and drop off the boy, then to FL for a week. Came back through on Fri and left Sat eve.
'
Now back to work..ugh....

Man, I'm trying to get out of Jax, FL for a week

Going to hit Atlanta and Savannah...been dying to see that new Aquarium in ATL...

Get your ticket before you head up here! Every time I've considered checking the aquarium out it has been sold out.

As for me -- did a week in St. Augustine last week and will do another week in the Gulf next week. Of course I take my laptop edit system with me, but I suppose it counts as a vacation -- even if it is just a change of scenery!

I am forcing myself not to cart along the HVX, though I would like some nice beach stock footage. (does anyone else use "stock footage" as an excuse to keep shooting even while on vacation?)

I'm gonna run to the liquor store a few times, but that's about all I have planned for the summer.

I'm actually taking a vacation from my job to shoot an instructional fencing DVD. The rest of my vacation time will be used for job interviews. Hopefully I'll leave Corp. America by September. I'll be taking a pay cut but I'm at the point where I have to leave or I'll shoot myself.:kali: :crybaby:

I just back from Wallowa Lake in Oregon with with the wife and kids. I love it there. We drove up there last year (from Southern California) in a 12 passenger van. It only took us 26 hours to make the 17 hour drive . Of course, in the van were my wifes parents, my wifes brother and his wife + their baby, and my wife and I + our 2 kids. 6 adults, 2 babies, and a 4 year old.... Madness I tell you!

We flew this year. Not much better. No matter how you do it, when you have kids, traveling long distances pretty much sucks.

Here is a pic of my son from last year when we drove. No, we did not really do this.

What in the world did you do here for a week this past week except for sweat your a$$ off??? I cancelled plans to go to the Keys because of car trouble/cost of fixing it. But I have cut all my hair off (see mention of insane heat above) painted my bathroom, gone to the gym, and hope to go to the opening night of Sex, Lies, and the I.R.S. at a local dinner theater. Hope to see some sea turtles hatch and scamper/plod into the water by the weekend! :)

Depends a LOT on the kids; some travel better than others.

LOL to the pic! :)

Have not gone yet...will prob catch the matinee tomorrow, hopefully. :) I miss working stage productions.... I never ran sound, but ran lights and jsut about everything else. Actually, I dont think I'm physically fit enough to do that anymore.

Actually, I dont think I'm physically fit enough to do that anymore.

Well, I was physically fit when I ran lights for a production of Virginia Woolf.

And I totally missed the cue for the end, leaving Denis there on the stage looking totally ridiculous.

Which soon morphed into really pissed off.

Well, hell. After 12 performances or so, you kinda get bored with it and your mind wanders...
