So I'm somewhat new to digital photography, last year I shot 35mm B+W while taking 2 photo classes and I have to say I still love film, but once I no longer had a darkroom to use whenever I wanted, I stopped shooting :(. So just recently as a combined birthday and graduation present my parents got me a canon 30d which so far I like. Its not as good as shooting film but the workflow is good and pictures are cheap to take. I know I'll be very glad I have it when I go to school in the fall. I'm going to Emerson as a film student but I'd like to mess around with some photography and Boston should be a great place to shoot.

So here are a few pictures I took pretty much testing out the camera. I have been too buisy to do any serious photography yet between the two music videos and the feature film I've been prepping for as well as the feature I just finished editing(and still need to cc :furious3: ). But anyways, here are the pictures, nothign really impressive just me playing around getting used to the camera and practicing some photoshop stuff. Hopefully the little practice I did will help me when i get in to taking some real pictures.

that ones of a flight yoke, some of these are from the day me and my friend went flying(hes training to be a pilot) unfourtunately i didnt get any shots in the air because I video'd parts of the flight with my dvx and unfourtunately the footage didnt come out all that great because the windows were a little foggy. Was hoping to use the takeoff and maybe landing in an upcoming music vid but not sure if it will work because of the poor quality of the vid.

Sorry for having so many images, hopefully if you were totally bored out of your mind you would have hit the back button half way through or scrolled down to the bottom to mercilessly flame me haha. But anyways, as I said before, these are really just tests of me learning my tools. Hopefully sometime I can do some serious photography and post it here. But let me know what you think, I know they aren't very good but you can always give me some tips :)

I just saw this thread. some nice work, but be cautious about the amouint of tweaking in Photoshop. Some of those pics have been blasted almost to the point losing their intergrity.

One of the biggest things people want to do when they get their work into Photoshop (or a similar progam) is to tweak the living hell out of them, because they can. All these cool filters, effects, and whatnot, and the result is something that is far too overworked.

You have a pretty good eye for composition, and I like the one with the Yoke the best. Thats the only one where the photoshopping REALLY fits the pic, or enhances it.

Regarless of many trends you see, subtlety will get you much further and your work held in higher regard than over doing it because you can.

Good pics, not much crits other than they are overprossed.

I swear the second pic looks like it just came out of some advertisement...

nice compositions, but I have to agree that some of them look a little overprocessed.

Is your favorite color green? :)

I can't quite get past the fact that picture 1 looks like a dead person holding a Dew.
