It is amazing if you stick around long enough in this bizness, what direction this calling to video production will take you. At first I intended to open my own shop and after some deep soul searching and the lack of space in my home, I got to talking with some people I work with about using video in the transportation industry (Railroad). Every one I have spoken to has seen merit in this idea. So now I have the opportunity to possibly create a media facility within my rather large employer. All I need to do is present a business plan and a snazzy presentation to my VP of Transportation and other illuminaries and see if they feel the same way. SO...The meat of my post...
If you were in my shoes, and could build your dream (and lets keep the costs reasonable, Shreveport is not Hollywood) facility, what would you include in your equipment needs. I have a pretty good idea, but want to compare my list to yours. Sorry for the long read. To give you some idea of what I would be shooting:
1. Safety videos
2. Quarterly video news updates posted on our intranet (streaming)
3. Marketing tools for our sales people
4. updates for our clients on what the railroad is doing to help their industries
5. anything I can think of

Thanks

Well, you could get a 16mm cam and make films like this:

I got Denied! :violent5: I just got through talking with the big boss at my work about this venture when he disclosed the fact that our company has a long term 5+ year contract with an outside vid. company for all our video productions. I guess I could apply at this company, but since I really dont want to move to Kansas City, but will I need too. Sad Day in Louisiana.

That's my point, inhouse vid production = less cost for the company. Plus I wouldnt lose my railroad retirement

I grew up watching Brett. If you move there, I can tell which coffee shop he goes to every morning. :) After being in Dallas for about 18 months, I think more highly of KC then when I lived there -- ha! But maybe that's week 9 of 100-degree heat talking.
