there I made it into a new thread...

after discussing data rates in another forum... a new seed has taken root in my mind...

So by knowing roughly the data through-put, can one theorize that a super-computer can be built to capture data coming from RED?... I mean can I build a pc that has a motherboard with two HD-SDI pci cards (http://www.promax.com/Products/Detail/32282 ) for capturing and then have a RAID BACKPLAN RACK (http://www.satagear.com/MLK-4XSSII_SATA_Multi_Drive_Case.html )with a few 500GB harddrives recording all the information? Would this be feasible? I would really like to build a personal computer JUST for the RED system rather than renting or buying one of these DFR systems:http://www.stwo-corp.com/services.htm

So the question in brief, can this DFR by S.two, or a product of equal functionality, basically be substituted for "homemade" supercomputer version?

thank you
